Project Mission & Objectives

The Mission of this Project is to ensure that the processes and quality of evaluation conducted by organizations (ASK, other participating organizations) and individual evaluators are strengthened and evaluation increasingly becomes a more useful tool for planners, development researchers and communities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of development organizations and their interventions.

The objectives of the Project are to:

  • Create a space and platform for exchange and stimulate dynamic exchange and interaction among evaluation experts in South Asia.
  • Increase the knowledge and experience base of individual experts, the organizations they represent, promote utilization of the improved and systemized knowledge by the evaluators, (both experts and new practitioners).
  • Expose the evaluation experts and practitioners in South Asia to the knowledge and experiences of international evaluation experts creating new links and expertise.
  • Document and publish the experiences and insights of the evaluation experts, contributing to the field of development evaluation and research.
  • Demonstrate and document how the usage of newly acquired ideas can improve the quality of evaluation in the South Asia with the use of new and more effective methods.
  • Foster interaction and collaboration between evaluation experts, practitioners and other development stakeholders (the multi lateral and bilateral agencies and other international, national, and regional organizations, policy makers) to promote dialogue on improved quality and use of evaluation.

Now that the COE is formed, the members are being formally engaged in a process of interaction through a series of seminars (two each year) on evaluation methods and issues. The Project also plans to expose the members to new evaluation methods by trainings (one in each of the second and third year) conducted by international experts. These trainings will also be open to other evaluation practitioners who will be able to attend these trainings on payment of a fee.

In order to keep the discussion on the topics of Evaluation alive, all the identified evaluation experts and practitioners have been facilitated to network with each other through web based portal and / or email based list serve.
